About the Open Graph Meta Tag Generator

When someone shares your link on Facebook, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Slack or X, the platform builds a preview card from special meta tags in your page. Miss those tags and your link can show a blank box, the wrong image, or no description at all. This tool turns a simple form into a complete, ready-to-paste block of Open Graph and Twitter tags — and shows you a live preview of exactly how your link will look before you publish it.

  • Keep titles under about 60 characters and descriptions under about 160 so nothing gets cut off.
  • Use a 1200 × 630 pixel image with a full https:// address for the sharpest previews.
  • Add both a site name and handle so your brand is credited on every shared card.
  • After going live, re-share the link through a platform's debugger to clear any old cached preview.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are Open Graph meta tags?
Open Graph tags are small pieces of code you add to a web page that tell social networks how to display your link when it's shared. They control the title, description, and preview image people see on Facebook, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Slack and more — instead of leaving the platform to guess.
What image size should I use for the preview?
A ratio of about 1.91:1 works best. The recommended size is 1200 × 630 pixels, which looks crisp on Facebook, LinkedIn and large Twitter/X cards. Keep the file under a few megabytes and use a full https:// web address so every platform can load it.
What's the difference between the two Twitter card types?
summary shows a small square thumbnail next to the text, while summary_large_image shows a big, full-width image above the text. For most articles, products and landing pages the large image card gets more attention and clicks.
Where do I paste the generated tags?
Put them inside the <head> section of your page's HTML, ideally near your other meta tags. If you use a CMS or site builder, look for a "custom head code", "meta tags" or "SEO" field where you can drop them in.
Do I need both Open Graph and Twitter tags?
It's a good idea. Twitter/X reads its own twitter: tags first and falls back to Open Graph, while Facebook, LinkedIn, Slack and most chat apps use Open Graph. Including both gives you the best-looking preview everywhere.
Why doesn't my new preview show up when I share the link?
Social platforms cache previews, so an old version can stick around. After updating your tags, use the platform's debugging or preview tool (for example Facebook's Sharing Debugger) to force a refresh and pull in your latest title, description and image.
